JEWELRY - JOYERÍA

I was born in the city of Veracruz to a family of photographers and artists. I studied history and arquitecture, but I soon realized that that was not for me, however, both of these studies keep manifesting themselves in the present in my designs and in the way that I conceive jewelry.

Following in my mother’s steps, a glass-blower, I studied glass-blowing and other techniques to sculpt glass using heat in Spain, Finland and the United States, dedicating myself to the creation of sculptures and art installations using glass for several years. I did exhibits in London, Japan, Spain and Mexico. Finally, I disembogued in silversmithing, a trade that found me while I waited for a strike to end in the glass-blowing school at Barcelona in which I was studying and ended up being the trade of my life, but I learned this many years later.

In 2011 I moved to Mexico City while I was working as an assistant in a viennese theatre production company, as to pay my bills. I looked for spare time to create pieces of jewelry and continue learning the trade.

The last 5 years I’ve been able to dedicate myself full time to being a silversmith and I setup my workshop in which I personally create all my pieces.

Nací en la ciudad de Veracruz, México, en el seno de una familia de fotógrafos y artistas. Realicé estudios en arquitectura e historia, pero descubrí muy a tiempo que eso no era lo mío, sin embargo ambas carreras siguen manifestándose en el presente en mis diseños y en la forma en la que concibo la orfebrería.

Siguiendo los pasos de mi madre, que fue vitralista, estudié vidrio soplado y otras técnicas para modelar vidrio con calor en España, Finlandia y Estados Unidos, dedicándome a la creación de instalaciones y esculturas con vidrio por varios años. Realicé exposiciones en Londres, Japón, España y México. Finalmente, desenboqué en la orfebrería, oficio que me encontró mientras esperaba a que la huelga de la escuela de vidrio en la que estudiaba en Barcelona terminará y resultando ser este el oficio de mi vida, pero esto último lo supe años más tarde.

En 2011 llegué a vivir a la Ciudad de México y mientras trabajaba como asistente de producción una compañía de teatro vienesa, para pagar mis gastos, buscaba momentos libres para crear piezas de joyería y seguir aprendiendo el oficio.

Los últimos 5 años he podido dedicarme de tiempo completo a ser orfebre y monté mi taller en el cual produzco personalmente todas mis piezas.
