Behind the Brand <\/u><\/strong><\/p>

Chanklas | Atelier Ancestro is the product of husband & wife duo Kenny & Karen Armstrong and their mutual passion for ancestral crafts, thoughtful design & ultimately an expression of their own story.<\/p>

Born in Mexico, Karen grew up with a deep appreciation for tradition and much like her native country, she was heavily influenced by her ties to Europe & the time she spent living in the captivating south of France. As fate would have it, her great-grandfather, was a custom shoemaker. Two generations later, we honor the art of our ancestors with collections that tell its story through centuries old techniques, luxury materials & reinvented handcrafted luxury.<\/p>

Inspired by techniques used for centuries in pre-colonial Mexico and influenced by its ties to Europe, our collections are crafted with a sensible reverence to the traditions of our ancestors.<\/p>

Featured in Vogue, Home & Gardens and Glamour Magazines among other publications. Our collections are handcrafted from noble traditions marrying fine supple leathers, perfected techniques and sophisticated feminine aesthetics. A place where tradition & avant-garde meet and past & present beautifully collide. \u00a0Every collection\u2019s essence lies in a sense of whimsical sense of wandering & that chic je ne sais quoi is the staple to every pair.<\/p>

We believe in creating one of a kind pieces with layered significance and emotional value. Ethereal wear that gets better with each wear. At the heart of each collection is the preservation of tradition. Every pair uniting generations of perfected footwear techniques to modern luxury materials. Every piece is ethically hand-crafted by artisans who weave their story into each collection with dedicated attention to the formation of every detail. As designers, we are constantly focusing on the fusion of luxury and sustainable materials. All leathers are exclusively vegetable tanned & all fabrics are made using only native cottons naturally dyed using organics local to Mexico. Los Dise\u00f1adores<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>

Chanklas | Atelier Ancestro es el producto del d\u00fao de esposos Kenny y Karen Armstrong y su pasi\u00f3n mutua por las artesan\u00edas ancestrales, el dise\u00f1o y una expresi\u00f3n de su propia historia.<\/p>

Karen creci\u00f3 con un profundo aprecio por la tradici\u00f3n y al igual que su pa\u00eds natal, tuvo influencia art\u00edstica de Europa y el tiempo que estudi\u00f3 en el cautivador sur de Francia. Como coincidencia del destino, su bisabuelo era dise\u00f1ador de zapatos. Dos generaciones despu\u00e9s, honramos el arte de nuestros antepasados con colecciones que cuentan su historia a trav\u00e9s de t\u00e9cnicas ancestrales, materiales de alta calidad y lujo artesanal reinventado.<\/p>

Cada colecci\u00f3n es creada con una sensible reverencia a t\u00e9cnicas utilizadas en el M\u00e9xico prehisp\u00e1nico para la fabricaci\u00f3n de zapatos – uniendo dise\u00f1o, t\u00e9cnicas ancestrales, pieles finas y materiales de lujo en piezas \u00fanicas con un valor sentimental y una historia que contar. Cada par se teje en nuestras propias historias, donde la tradici\u00f3n y la vanguardia se encuentran, y el pasado y presente viven en armon\u00eda.<\/p>

La esencia de cada colecci\u00f3n radica en un sentido de aventura y ese chic \u2018je ne sais quoi\u2019 es el elemento b\u00e1sico de cada par.<\/p>

Nuestras colecciones son elaboradas con una pasi\u00f3n por desafiar nuestros procesos de dise\u00f1o y ejecuci\u00f3n, enfoc\u00e1ndonos constantemente en la introducci\u00f3n de materiales de lujo. Todas las pieles utilizadas en nuestras colecciones son exclusivamente curtidas vegetalmente y las telas utilizadas en nuestras colecciones provienen de algodones nativos a M\u00e9xico te\u00f1idos naturalmente.<\/p>

El coraz\u00f3n de nuestra marca son los artesanos con los que colaboramos.
