Katya Demidova<\/p>

Born in 1983, Moscow, Russia.<\/p>

Currently lives and works in Mexico.<\/p>

Growing up in an artistic family encouraged Katya to engage with arts and crafts from a young age. In 2005 she moved to London after completing her degree in linguistics at Moscow University of Foreign Languages. She took a postgraduate degree in Fine Art from Byam Shaw School of Art \/University of the Arts London\/ where she explored various forms of art such as performance and installation that allowed her to expand her creative skills.<\/p>

However, photography remained her main field of interest. Being attracted by documentary photography and storytelling, she continued her journey at the University of Westminster undertaking a Master\u00b4s degree in photojournalism.<\/p>

Through the years Katya has developed strong manual skills and an eye for details and design that lead her to Mexico, that has been her home base since 2015. In her newly adopted country she has started to explore its rich traditions and ancestral techniques. Two years later on the Caribbean coast of Tulum\u00a0 SOMNILOQUY was born.<\/p>

As a leap of faith her life long hobby has become a jewelry brand.\u00a0 Through creating designs with beads she continues to fulfill her fascination with color and geometrical forms, that earlier she has been translating through photography. The visual curiosity of the creative process never seems to fade as with every new design she embarks on a \u201cmind to hands\u201d journey – from the idea to an actual wearable object. With SOMNILOQUY designs the artist aspires to adorn and empower people who wear them.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Nacida en 1983, Mosc\u00fa, Rusia.<\/p>

Actualmente vive y trabaja en M\u00e9xico.<\/p>

Creci\u00f3 en una familia art\u00edstica, esto anim\u00f3 a Katya a involucrarse en las artes y la artesan\u00eda desde una edad temprana. En 2005 se traslad\u00f3 a Londres despu\u00e9s de completar su licenciatura en ling\u00fc\u00edstica en\u00a0 Moscow University of Foreign Languages. Obtuvo un posgrado en Bellas Artes de la Byam Shaw School of Art \/ University of the Arts London, donde explor\u00f3 varias formas de arte, como el performance\u00a0 e intervenciones art\u00edsticas, que le permitieron expandir sus habilidades creativas.<\/p>

Sin embargo, la fotograf\u00eda sigui\u00f3 siendo su principal campo de inter\u00e9s. Atra\u00edda por la fotograf\u00eda documental y la narraci\u00f3n, continu\u00f3 su viaje en la Universidad de Westminster realizando una maestr\u00eda en fotoperiodismo.<\/p>

A trav\u00e9s de los a\u00f1os, Katya ha desarrollado fuertes habilidades manuales y un ojo para los detalles y el dise\u00f1o, lo que la llevan a M\u00e9xico, su base de operaciones desde 2015. En su pa\u00eds reci\u00e9n adoptado, comenz\u00f3 a explorar sus ricas tradiciones y t\u00e9cnicas ancestrales. Dos a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s en la costa caribe\u00f1a de Tulum naci\u00f3 SOMNILOQUY.<\/p>

Como acto de fe, su pasatiempo de toda la vida se ha convertido en una marca de joyer\u00eda. A trav\u00e9s de la creaci\u00f3n de dise\u00f1os con chaquira, contin\u00faa cumpliendo su fascinaci\u00f3n por el color y las formas geom\u00e9tricas, las cuales hab\u00eda estado traduciendo a trav\u00e9s de la fotograf\u00eda. La curiosidad visual del proceso creativo nunca parece desvanecerse, ya que con cada nuevo dise\u00f1o ella se embarca en un viaje “mente a manos” – desde la idea hasta un objeto que se puede llevar puesto. Con los dise\u00f1os de SOMNILOQUY la artista aspira a adornar y empoderar a las personas que los usan.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
